About Me

Hi! I am Mrs. Powell – morning librarian for 530 Tk-2nd grade students. I am also a mom and a grandma, so I am always on the lookout for books for the people I love. And stuffies that match those books. They are a fun way to decorate the library and at home, they encourage the cats to lounge elsewhere. We intended to adopt just one cat – the adorable kitty that kept sneaking into the library. But Library Kitty had kittens just after she came to live with us.

In addition to kids, books, and cats, I love cozy cardigan sweaters, Pez Dispensers, and the Muppets. Those last two things were popular when I was a kid (in the 1970s), so I’m grateful that they are still easy to find.

My favorite kind of books are picture books. I enjoy writing them as much as I enjoy reading them. I love how they teach and entertain. Plus, the messages inside are intended for all ages. Not just kids. I learn so much from picture books.

What have you learned from a picture book?  And have you found a book that you think I should read?

If you would like to answer those questions, feel free to send me a message. (As long as your grown ups say it’s okay. I would love to hear from them too!)

Let’s build something together.
